Invitation shopping tips:

1. Pick boy or girl. We’ve made it easy for you by dividing our party invites into boy invitations and girl invitations. While many of our invitation cards are appropriate for children of all ages, we’ve dedicated a category just for first birthdays, where you’ll find invites featuring one single candle or a birthday cake shaped like the number 1. Don’t worry if you have a toddler celebrating his second birthday or a kindergartner on her fifth birthday – we have plenty of invitations for them too!

2. Choose a theme. A good theme can definitely make a happy birthday! For boys, popular birthday themes are pirate, superhero, cowboy, sports, safari, jungle, and fire truck. For girls, princess (particularly, Disney Princess), fairy, tea, and cupcake parties are among the favorite themes. A sure hit with both boys and girls are pool party or beach party for summer birthdays, scavenger hunt, pinata, and Disney themed parties especially ones featuring Mickey Mouse. Once you’ve settled on an invitation, use the theme and artwork on the invite to help you purchase birthday party supplies and to think of party games. For example, if you’re planning a pirate birthday party, you can decorate your home like a pirate ship and set up party games around walking the plank, digging for treasures, capturing the pirate flag, or dodging the cannon ball.

3. Decide printable vs. personalized invitations. Printable invitations are similar to fill-in invites except they do not have those pesky fill-in lines that are often too short to write in all your information. In fact, printable invites simply have blank areas where you can hand write your text or print them off using your inkjet or laser printer. Invitation templates may be included for more complicated designs to make printing easier for you. In terms of price, they are cheap invitations. In terms of quality, our printable invites are not at all cheaply made but are professionally printed on high-quality cardstock. If you decide to go with personalized invites, you won’t have to do anything other than to stuff the envelopes and mail off the invites because these invitations are custom-printed with your wording.

4. Word your invitation. To start off your invitation, make use of funny quotes, clever poems, and sweet birthday messages. Try to incorporate the birthday theme, time of year (winter birthday vs. summer birthday), or the child’s age in your invitational text. For instance, for a first birthday party, you could begin “One little candle, one little cake, one first year to celebrate!”.
